Biodegradable Seedling Trays by CowPots® are the most compact seeding option for confined space. The biodegradable tray is scored between cells for ease of separation at time of planting. The Biodegradable seedling tray is great for starting a mixed garden of lettuce, peppers, eggplants, or a salsa pack of tomato, hot pepper, cilantro. Many of our CSA farmers have success selling these “starter kits” at farmer markets to their customers who appreciate the attention paid to sustainability.
The Six Cell biodegradable seedling tray will last indefinitely in a cool, dry location until needed. Once planted, the seedling tray will stay intact for up to 2 months in a greenhouse setting. Once the individual cells are planted and surrounded by soil, they will begin to degrade within weeks and fully degraded in one growing season.

How To Grow in Biodegradable Seed Starter Pots from CowPots®
- Fill CowPots® with potting soil mix and plant seeds
- Water and fertilize as needed (top or bottom watered)
- Give CowPot® time to harden between watering (when the pot returns to a light brown color it is time to water)
- When seedlings are ready for planting, place the ENTIRE CowPot into the soil and cover completely.
- Above ground, CowPots® will last 2-3 months. Once planted they begin to degrade within weeks.
