Our Roots
Plants are deeply rooted in every part of our society. Even if you’re not surrounded in growing things, they are what fuels all life on Earth. They give us food, they support physical, mental, and emotional health, and they’re an essential part of maintaining ecosystems around the globe. That’s what it is all about here at Growers’ Goods. Generations of our family have passed along respect and appreciation for plants to their children.
Today, Growers’ Goods markets wholesale plant nursery supplies, supplies for commercial greenhouse growers, and products for open-field farmers. Growers’ Goods is a company backed by a family four generations in the horticultural business. In the 1920s, our great grandparents (along with their 13 children) were commercial field crop farmers growing alfalfa, wheat, and corn. By the 1950s, the next generation operated a homestead: two acres filled with vegetable and flower gardens, fruit and nut trees, berry bushes and more to nutritionally sustain the family as well as financially support them through produce and flower sales at markets and vegetable stands.
In the 1970s, our parents operated a landscape design business which spilled over into teaching us girls to propagate plants via our first "hydroponic system" comprised of glass jars on windowsills. As we grew, our operation grew into propagating African violets and spider plants under grow lights—and that love of growing turned into a business in which we created hanging planters filled with our propagated plants to sell at garden centers and hardware stores. Our roots reach back generations as our family has always been in touch with green things.
The branches of our family tree are lined with growers of all kinds, and we have grown in all kinds of containers—the earth, hydroponics, grow pots, planters, and more. We started Growers’ Goods by tapping into our roots, bringing all those generational experiences together for one reason: we recognize that the world cannot thrive without plants, and by extension, people cannot thrive without the growers who grow them. That’s why we’re here.
Growers’ Goods has committed to cultivating true partnerships with all those growers who are part of our family history, and with commercial greenhouse growers everywhere who need containers and media and other growing essentials. We are firmly planted in doing things right – including how we treat people and our planet. Anything planted, everywhere grown . . . Growers’ Goods – container solutions for good growers.
