The “Breathe” Deep Ocean is aptly named as the design stimulates the natural ebb & flow of air circulation to the root zone like found in nature.  Some ornamental plants – whether grown indoors or outdoors – can be tricky to grow.  Gardeners and plant enthusiasts are challenged with proper watering and circling roots when growing plants in containers.  Root rot and rootbound plants are a thing of the past with these aeration plant pots.  Aeration (air flow) to the roots provides air-pruning which prevents those circling roots we are all too familiar with.  Air has a pruning effect on exposed roots at the root tip.  This air pruning signals to the plant to produce more lateral roots.  More lateral roots mean the plant is going to absorb water and nutrients more efficiently, resulting in a healthier plant.  Contrary to how it sounds, more roots in an air pruning plant pot such as the Breathe plant container will not cause a root bound plant.  Circling roots cause a plant to be root bound.  That is a big difference.   

Will soil run out the sides?  Only if you are using very fine potting mixture.  If there are not big gaps when potting, everything will stay in the pot.

Is a pot liner included?  Yes, although not necessary to use.

Does a matching saucer come with each pot?  Yes.

How does this design benefit the plant?  In two ways:  It is virtually impossible to overwater the plant; the design stimulates air root pruning which keeps the roots from circling inside the pot as so often happens with solid wall plant pots.  Circling reduces root growth which limits the plants’ ability to absorb water & nutrients.  Even ‘brown thumbs’ will be able to grow in this indoor or outdoor plant pot.

How do you clean the Breathe Plant Pot?  Wipe down with water if needed.  For deep cleaning, use a borax solution or mild soap.

Would this planter be a good choice for plants needing consistently wet soil?  No.  The design of this planter specifically encourages drainage.
